Dollye Andrea Wren Ward

Wrens, GA  –              Dollye Andrea Wren Ward, 76, loving wife of the late Jerido Ward, entered into her eternal rest Thursday, April 14, 2016 at her residence. The family will receive friends at Wrens Baptist Church on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 1:00-2:30PM.  Funeral services will follow at 2:30 P.M. in the church with Reverend J. Scott McKinney officiating.  Interment will be in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery.

One of three girls born to the late Frances Hanna Wren and the late John Henry “Buck” Wren, Dollye was a native of Wrens where she graduated from Wrens High School in 1957, after which she attended North Georgia College.  Even though she attended Wrens Baptist all of her life, she made it official and joined their membership in 1958 where she actively served her Lord and Savior attending the Lucy Howard Sunday School Class and the Lois Whaley and Ann Lewis Women on Mission Groups.  A life member of the John Franklin Wren Chapter of NSDAR, Dollye held numerous chapter and state offices and national chairmanships including Chapter Regent and Vice Regent, State Librarian, Historian, Chaplain and State Regent.  Being very civic and community-minded, Dollye served the City of Wrens as a council member from December 1997 – December 2004 and as the first, and only, female mayor from January 2004 through January 2007.  She enjoyed crocheting—most of the babies in Wrens received a crocheted baby blanket—and playing card games with her family and friends.  Dollye loved her family unconditionally. Understanding the importance of family, she made an effort to attend and participate in every event—soccer games, graduation, etc.  A strong-willed, dedicated woman of faith, Dollye’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, her church family and the community.

Survivors include her three children, Stan Ward and wife Lisa of Perry GA, Andrea Baghaii and husband Parviz of Medina OH, and Terry Ward and wife Beverly of Terrell NC; seven grandchildren, Jackson Lee and wife Neely, Jennye Ward, Allie Ward, Meghan Ward Scharnikow and husband John, Cale Ward, Ben Johnson, and Daniel Ward; two great grandchildren, Maddox Lee and Austyn Lee; and two sisters, Jonnie Wren Ghetti and Hanna Wren Fowler and husband Sammy.  Pallbearers will be Emory Clements, Raley Clements, Jim Gay, Charles Milburn, Richard Prescott and George Samples.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Lucy Howard Sunday School Class and NSDAR members.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the John Franklin Wren Chapter NSDAR, c/o of Beth Usry, 107 Quaker Rd, Wrens GA 30833 or to Wrens Baptist Church, PO Box 217, Wrens GA 30833 earmarked for Operation Christmas Child.
