Dink Reynolds
Matthews, GA – Dink Reynolds, 68, loving husband of 19 years to Nell Mobley Reynolds, suddenly departed this life and entered into his eternal rest Friday morning, October 18, 2019 at Jefferson Hospital. Services with full military honors to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday afternoon, November 9, 2019 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Jerry Reynolds officiating.
One of six born to the late Maude Penneycuff Reynolds and the late Oscar Lee Reynolds, Dink was raised in Jellico TN. A proud patriot, he served our country in the Army, working in communications and retiring with 20 years of service. He then worked in security at East Central Regional Hospital, formerly Gracewood State School and Hospital, retiring from there with 20 years of service. In 2000, he met and married the love of his life. They moved to their property in Jefferson County where he was able to enjoy the quiet, peaceful country life, being with his dogs and his best friend, his beloved wife. It has been said that they were “joined at the hip”—where you saw one, you saw the other. A people-person, he never met a stranger and was known for his great sense of humor. He did gravitate to those who were serving or had served our great country. Almost every aspect of his life centered around the military—Dink saluted the flag every morning and loved talking about the military and learning of others’ experiences. He didn’t watch much TV but, being a John Wayne fanatic, enjoyed watching JW’s military and western movies. Dink’s loving, caring and generous spirit will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. Another soldier goes home…
Dink is also preceded in death by his siblings, Perry Reynolds, Ernest Reynolds and Clarice Walden. Other survivors include his children, Christopher Reynolds (Serena) of VA, Lori Kirkland (James) of Panama City FL, and Spencer Teal (Jamie) of Greer SC; brother, Jerry Reynolds (Janice) of Gainesville GA; sister, Cloraetta Reynolds of Batesburg SC; nine grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to the local Alzheimer’s Association, 106 SRP Drive, Evans GA 30809.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home after the services Saturday afternoon, November 9, 2019.
