Dianna Onley

March 2, 1951 — September 5, 2018

Wrens, GA

Dianna Lynn Onley

Wrens, GA  –              Dianna Lynn Onley, 67, loving mother and grandmother, lost her battle with cancer and entered into her eternal rest Wednesday afternoon, September 5, 2018 at University Hospital in Augusta. Services to celebrate her life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 6:00 P.M. Monday evening, September 10, 2018 with Rev. Chad Watkins officiating.

The eldest of five children born to the late Doris Jean Boggess Onley and Harlan Wayne Onley, Dianna was a native of Danville IL.  Because her father served in the military, the family lived in various locations all over the US before his being transferred to Ft. Gordon in 1968 and their settling in Wrens. A 1969 graduate of Wrens High School, Dianna worked in various companies in the surrounding towns—Uniroyal in Thomson, Glit in Wrens, etc.—before accepting a position as housekeeper at Keysville Nursing Home.  She loved this position and served there for thirteen years.  A homebody, she was a voracious reader—her favorite author being James Patterson. Dianna was a loyal friend and loved her family unconditionally. Her first priority was her son and grandchildren who brought much joy to her heart.

Other survivors include her son, James Alan Onley; three grandchildren, Michael Onley, Logan Onley and Ellie Onley; four siblings, Donna O. James, David W. Onley, Janet O. Watts and John A. Onley (Karen); nieces, nephews and many friends.

Because of the financial burden of her illness, the family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in her honor be made directly to James Funeral Home, P.O. Box 588, Wrens, GA  30833.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home immediately after the services Monday evening, September 10, 2018.

After Glow

I’d like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an after glow
of smiles when life is done,
I’d like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing
times and bright and
summer days.
I’d like the tears of those who
grieve, to dry before the sun,
Of happy memories that I leave
When life is done.
