Dean Willard Evans

June 11, 1944 — March 7, 2024

Keysville, GA

Dean Willard Evans, 79, peacefully entered into his eternity at his home.  The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday, March 10, 2024. Services to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00AM Monday morning, March 11, 2024 in the James Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Augusta.

Born and raised in Keysville, Dean's education was interrupted when he left Waynesboro High School to assist in the family logging business, showcasing his strong sense of responsibility from a young age.

After marrying his high school sweetheart in 1964, Dean embarked on a successful career journey. He initially worked at MECO before dedicating 30 years of service to Proctor and Gamble, where he eventually retired in 1998. Dean's work ethic and commitment were evident throughout his professional life.

In his leisure time, Dean found solace in the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years, he loved the outdoors. Having a passion for racing, he competed in stock car races in Georgia and the Carolinas, sharing these thrilling moments with his son as they worked together on their cars. His love for outdoor activities extended to working in his yards - a space that brought him great joy.

Described as easy-going, happy, considerate, generous, and kind, Dean cherished the time spent with his family. He held a special place in his heart for each member but found utmost delight in the presence of his great-grandchildren who filled his heart to capacity. Dean also valued the fellowship at Brushy Creek Baptist Church until his health declined.

Dean Willard Evans is survived by his children, Deana Carlyn (Clyde), Glenn Evans (Melissa), and Susan Patrick (Burt); grandchildren, Ashley Williams (Seth), Tony Cruz (Meg), Dylan Evans, Jackson Evans (Maleah), Caitlin Edwards (Michael), and Erin Cosby; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Cruz, Skylar Williams, Myrah Williams, Gunnar Jackson, Grayson Cruz, Addie Evans, Ava Evans, and Ollie Edwards; brother, Cecil Evans; along with other extended family members and friends.  Serving as pallbearers include Victor Arrington, Jeremy Brassell, Johnny Bryant, Troy Gearig, Jason Irby and Mike Knight.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brenda Joyce Riddle Evans; parents, Mamie Skinner Evans Gresham and Ray Evans; as well as three siblings, Harold Evans, Walter Evans, and Ruth McDonald.

Dean's legacy of love for family and dedication to both work and leisure activities will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing he made a lasting impact on those around him.
