David "Ian" Sproat

David “Ian” Sproat, 19, unexpectedly and tragically died Monday, February 20, 2023 at Doctors Hospital. Services to celebrate his life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 5:00 PM Saturday evening, March 4, 2023 with Tracy Lee and Ryan Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends after the services.

Born in Augusta, Ian grew up in Dearing, attending Dearing Elementary and Thomson Middle School where he played soccer and sang in the chorus. After moving to Martinez, he attended Evans High School after which he worked in wood flooring. Having a musical talent, he loved playing the guitar and making music.  This soothed his soul and gave him much peace and enjoyment. Ian was also into skateboarding, video games and cooking.  He also loved going fishing with family and friends.  Described as a “bright ray of sunshine”, he felt it was his duty to make people smile.  Ian loved his dog, Skylar, with all his being. Having a deep affection for his friends and family, he loved greatly and, in return, was loved greatly.  The void left by his passing cannot be filled but his love and memories will live on in our hearts—his sweet, gentle spirit will be forever remembered.

Ian is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hilma and Baxter Hill. Those left to cherish his memories include his parents, Sheri Denise Hill and David Lee Michael Sproat Jr.; sister, Bryttani Dawn Sproat; nephew, Kyle Evan Norton; paternal grandparents, Mary and David Sproat; aunts and uncles, Tim Hill (Joy), Tabitha Honeychurch and Tina Stuber (Jake); cousins, Brandon Hill (Melissa), Cody Hill and Robert Honeychurch; “second mom”, Melissa Todd; best friend, Tarra Todd; and other extended family and friends.

Because of the sudden nature of their loss, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made directly to James Funeral Home, PO Box 588, Wens, GA  30833.
