David Wayne Prescott

October 27, 1959 — March 14, 2024

Hephzibah, GA

David Wayne Prescott, 64, peacefully entered into his eternity Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Piedmont Augusta Hospital.  The family will receive friends for a public visitation from 6:00-8:00PM Monday, March 18, 2024 at James Funeral Home. Prior to the public visitation, the family will receive family and friends at the residence of Jane Wood, 5328 Campground Road, Wrens, GA 30833.  Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Derrick Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

Born on October 27, 1959, in Savannah, to the late Sara Ellen Huff Prescott and the late Roy “Peck” Nathan Prescott, David has left behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Throughout his life, David wore many hats – from proudly serving his country to embarking on a fulfilling career journey.  His early years were marked by a nomadic lifestyle due to his father's military service. From Italy to Wyoming and Texas, the family finally returned “home” to the Matthews/Stellaville area in 1972. It was there that David attended Wrens High School before answering the call to serve in the military.

Upon his return home from the military, David found himself working for NG Gilbert Tree Service. During this time, he obtained his DCL and later transitioned into long-haul trucking until his health unfortunately declined in 2017. His dedication and strong work ethic shone through in every role he undertook.

Described as a jokester who never met a stranger, David had a knack for making people laugh with his storytelling abilities. He was a caring and loving individual whose greatest joy came from spending time with his family. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, bringing him immense happiness.

In his leisure time, David indulged in various hobbies that brought him joy. An avid pool player, he participated in both the APA and TAP pool leagues. His passion for collecting knew no bounds – from figurines to movies and Marvel comics, especially first editions. Additionally, he enjoyed attending car shows and sharing his interests with others.

David's final days were marked by a brave battle against the rapid spread of cancer to his brain, blood, and lungs. Despite the challenges he faced, he remained resilient and surrounded by love from those closest to him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving children: Valerie N. Prescott, Crystal E. Prescott, and Tracy "Weaz" Prescott; six cherished grandchildren: Corey Perkins, Cameron Perkins, Alyssa Prescott, Jordan Glasscock, Audrey Prescott, and Neaveah Prescott; two sisters: Gloria Sasser and Jane P. Wood (Ricky); along with nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends. Honored to serve as pallbearers include Valerie Prescott, Cameron Perkins, Caleb Sammons, Arthur Dorch, Anthony Quagilietta and Wesley Ussery.

Due to their sudden, unexpected loss, the family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made directly to James Funeral Home. Checks can be made payable to James Funeral Home earmarked for David Prescott Services and mailed to PO Box 588, Wrens GA 30833; or you may click on the link below to contribute.
