Brenda Joyce Riddle Evans

Keysville, GA  –         Brenda Joyce Riddle Evans, loving wife of 56 years to Dean Willard Evans, entered into her eternal rest Saturday morning, April 4, 2020 at University Hospital. Because of the current ordinances regarding COVID-19 and the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety, the family has chosen to postpone celebration of life services which will be announced at a later date.  Private graveside services, officiated by Rev. Ron McMillan, will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

Brenda was the only daughter born to the late Hattie Mae Jenkins Riddle and the late Phillip Alexander Riddle.  Because her father worked in timber, the family had lived in at least ten different cities before settling in Keysville when she was 16.  She met the boy who lived across the street and fell in love.  After graduating from Waynesboro High School in May 1964, she married the love of her life in July and the following May welcomed their first child.  They lived on the Burke County side of the bridge until all three children were born, moving in 1970 to the Jefferson County side of the bridge.  A homemaker, Brenda made their home a loving, comfortable safe haven and loved taking care of her family. Her favorite time was family get-togethers.  Brenda loved her Lord and Savior, serving Him at Brushy Creek Baptist Church.  She loved music and attending concerts.  A big Elvis fan, she collected Elvis memorabilia, as well as Boyd’s bears. Brenda also loved nature, especially bird watching—just riding around looking at God’s wonderful world. She was always taking pictures of “life”—birds, clouds, her family, landscapes, and anything “beautiful”—and has many albums that held her precious memories.  When she had a spare minute, she could be found crocheting, or doing some kind of arts and craft project. Described as “sweeter than honey”, it has been said that “if you knew Brenda, you loved her”.  She had a big heart and never met a stranger. This loving wife, devoted mother and loyal friend had a great impact on her community and the people she met.  She will be missed but her memory will be treasured and honored by those she has left behind.

Brenda is also preceded in death by all of her brothers, Gene Riddle, Phillip Riddle Jr., James Riddle and Johnny Riddle. Other survivors include her three children, Deana Carlyn (Clyde), Glenn Evans (Melissa) and Susan Patrick (Burt); six grandchildren, Ashley Williams (Seth), Tony Cruz (Meg), Dylan Evans (Sara), Jackson Evans (Maleah), Caitlin Shore and Erin Cosby; six great grandchildren, Kyleigh Cruz, Skylar Williams, Myrah Williams, Gunnar Jackson, Grayson Cruz and Addie Evans; many nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
