Bobbie Ann Sammons Williford

June 30, 1942 — May 2, 2026

Wrens, GA

Bobbie Ann Sammons Williford, 83, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, May 2, 2026, at the Keysville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Born on June 30, 1942, in Glascock County, Bobbie was deeply rooted in the values and warmth of her hometown.

At the tender age of 17, Bobbie met the love of her life in a most charming and heartfelt moment—at a cafe in Gibson, as she chose a song on the jukebox. This encounter blossomed into a whirlwind romance, leading to their marriage when she was just 18 years old. Their union was one of true and enduring love, filled with song and dance, and lasting over 57 years until Vince Williford Jr., her dearly adored husband, passed away in 2015. Their relationship was the centerpiece of her life; she loved him with all her heart, mind, and soul. His loss left a profound emptiness, dimming the light that shone so brightly within her spirit.

Bobbie dedicated much of her life to her family, working various local jobs but always prioritizing her role as a homemaker. She tirelessly ensured that her family’s needs were met, creating a safe and joyous haven filled with laughter and love. Her kindness and consideration made her home a cherished sanctuary for those she held dear.

A woman of vibrant personality, Bobbie Ann was known for her great sense of humor, feistiness, and gregarious nature. She loved to “chit chat,” whether in person or on the phone, spreading warmth and cheer to everyone she encountered. She attended Wrens New Hope Church of the Nazarene, where her presence was deeply appreciated.

Music was one of Bobbie Ann’s greatest passions. Impressively musically inclined, she played the guitar by ear and performed not only for her family but also at church functions and nursing homes in the area, sharing her gift for the joy of others. She was a talented songwriter, notably composing a song dedicated to her husband—a heartfelt tribute to the reason for her heartbeat. Music filled her home continuously, with records playing loudly enough to welcome her children off the school bus each day, inviting them to dance and sing along. Her love of country music was unwavering, and she enjoyed watching any television program related to the genre. Beyond music, she enjoyed shopping and staying active, always thrilled to be on the go.

She is survived by her devoted children, Bruce Williford and Julie W. Mackendree; her beloved granddaughter, Jazmin L. Mackendree, and her sister, Annie Ruth Wade (Kenneth), along with other extended family and dear friends who mourn her passing and celebrate the remarkable life she led.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, Vince Williford Jr.; her parents, Myrtice Usry Sammons and Loranzie Sammons; and her siblings, Lee Byce and Gene Sammons.

Visitation to honor Bobbie’s life will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at James Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Wrens Memorial Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on the same day.

Bobbie Ann Sammons Williford will be remembered for her love and dedication to her husband, as well as her humor, and strength—a woman whose life was a testament to the power of family, faith, and music. Her spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
