Allen Dennis Prickett
Matthews, GA – Allen Dennis Prickett, 62, peacefully entered into his eternal rest Monday morning, November 14, 2022 at his residence. Graveside services to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday afternoon, November 18, 2022, at Mt. Moriah UMC Cemetery with Reverend Gary Caudill officiating.
A lifelong resident of Matthews and Jefferson County, Allen quit school in the eighth grade to go to work to help the family financially. A hard worker, he worked for local farmers, Barrow & Prescott and, for the last five years before his health decline, with Jeb Barrow on 3 B’s Farm. He loved to hunt and was known for his pool skills—his league play and tournament wins. A people-person, Allen was outgoing and loved spending time with old and new friends alike. He has been described as being humorous and always having an optimistic outlook and positive attitude. Having a giving, compassionate heart, he was always willing to help anyone in need in anyway he could. Allen accepted Jesus’ call and served his Lord and Savior at Your Hope Church until his health decline. His love for his family was the impetus to fight the good fight against the big “C”. He fought hard and suffered greatly, but it was his reliance on God and his faith that gave him peace and a hope for his eternity as he took Jesus’ hand in his final breath. Allen now has a new, pain-free body and is with his beloved grandson in their eternal home in Heaven.
Allen is preceded in death by his grandson, Brian Thigpen Jr.; his father, John Wesley Prickett; and mother, Voncille Arrington Prickett. Those left to cherish his memories include his children, Rosa Castro (Juan), Patricia Thigpen, April Robinson (Chris) and Benjamin Sullivan; five grandchildren, Alexis Thigpen, Brianna Thigpen, Kaelinn Brooks, John Castro and Millie Castro; one great granddaughter, Stormi Thigpen; seven siblings, Raymond Prickett, Freddie Prickett, Joyce Hillis, Marsha Gay, Carolyn Prickett, Lula McNeil and Bonnie Miles; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening, November 17, 2022.
