Agnes Louise McTier

Agnes Louise Inglett McTier, 88, entered into rest at her retirement home in “Silver Linings” in Stapleton Monday morning, August 24, 2026.

Born July 16, 1938 to the late Bessie Guy Inglett and the late James L. Inglett, Agnes lived in Wrens all her life, graduating as her class Valedictorian at Wrens High School.

Having accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior as a young girl, she served Him as a member of Wrens Baptist Church since 1973 where she assisted in teaching her adult Sunday School class until she was well into her 80’s.

With boundless energy and creativity, “Miss Agnes”, for many years was a self-employed owner and director of a childcare and preschool facility within her home where she taught reading, writing and math at her kitchen table. As her children grew up, she managed Rite Aid Pharmacy in Wrens , and also the Rite Aid in Louisville.

A great cook, she served delicious meals from their family farm, enjoying the pleasure on her loved ones’ faces as they ate, all the while relishing the fellowship with her family and friends. She was from the era where one worked hard and stayed busy with her resilience and resolve being grounded in her faith.

Agnes is also preceded in death by her husband, Kimmell Paul McTier; her son, James Kimmell McTier; her daughter, Ruth Ann McTier Clark; and her brother, Robert S. Inglett.

Those left to mourn her passing include her son, David W. McTier and wife, Lucy; her four grandchildren, Jace David McTier and his wife, Rachel, of Stapelton, Ty Kimmell McTier and his wife, Treacy, of Concord NC, Cameron Clark of Wrens, and Will Clark and his wife, Lucy, of Wrens; ten great-grandchildren, Eric McTier, Jayde McTier, Charleigh Kate McTier, Logan McTier, Kimmel McTier, Paige McTier, Ansley Clark, Carrie Ann Clark, Mackenzie McTier Chambers (Josh), and Morgan McTier Tenney (Eli); her brother Eugene Inglett of Columbia SC; as well as nieces, nephews, other extended family, her church family and friends.

The family would like to thank the family and friends of Silver Linings Retirement Home for their generous hospitality and outstanding love and professionalism during her stay there. Miss Agnes was blessed to have made many new “forever friends” and we are deeply thankful for them and God’s providence.

Services to celebrate her life will be held at James Funeral Home at 4:00PM Thursday afternoon, August 27, 2026, with Rev. Josh Mosley officiating, after which the family will remain at the funeral home to greet friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the ladies of her beloved Lucy Howard Sunday School Class. In a private interment, she will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Wrens Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
