Tammy Lee Mayo Votaw

Wrens, GA  –              Tammy Lee Mayo Votaw, 61, loving wife of 42 years to James Miland Votaw, entered into her eternal rest early Sunday morning, October 6, 2019 at University Hospital in Augusta. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held in the Wrens Church of God at 11:00 A.M Wednesday morning, October 9, 2019 with the Reverends Jason Burton and Zachaery Belcher officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery located in Matthews.

One of six girls born to the late Myrtle Napier Mayo and the late Jerry Lee Mayo, Tammy was a native of Huntington WV.  Because of her father’s military career, the family moved often, living in various parts of the U.S. and moving to Harlem when his final assignment was at Fort Gordon. After graduating from Harlem High School, she married the love of her life and began working. She worked in a pastry shop, as a clerk at Fort Gordon, as a pharmacy tech at a couple of drug stores, at Jefferson Hospital for thirteen years, and in Billing at Augusta Pediatric Associates for the last six years.  An active person who loved people, she also served as an Avon representative for over 20 years.  Tammy enjoyed fishing and traveling, especially going on cruises. Described as an “Elvis fanatic”, she was an avid collector of Elvis memorabilia. You always knew where you stood with Tammy as she boldly spoke her mind, sometimes without a “filter”.  She was as dedicated and loyal as she was strong-willed and determined. She drew her strength to face the trials of life through her faith in her Lord and Savior, serving Him diligently and faithfully at Wrens Church of God.  Lovingly known as “Mamie” by both family and friends, Tammy loved her family unconditionally and found great pleasure and joy in their company.  Her suffering is over and she is now rejoicing in her Heavenly home.

Tammy is also preceded in death by two sisters, Lorna Opachick and Julia Ann Mayo. Other survivors include her daughter, Veronica V. Price; three sisters, Gerry Lynn Thompson (Ronnie) of Huntington WV, Bonnie M. Hamm of Huntington WV, and Nola Jones of Grovetown; two grandsons, Malaki Price and Izaiah Price; nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Marty Amerson, Rusty Arrington, Richie Leggett, Jason Milburn, Dwight Prescott and Lewis Stavely.  Serving has honorary pallbearers are members of her Women’s Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening, October 8, 2019.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Wrens Church of God Building Fund, 102 Phillips Street, Wrens GA 30833.
