Lawrence “Larry” Frederick Wearn
Wrens, GA – Lawrence “Larry” Frederick Wearn, 76, loving husband to Brenda Gay Wearn, entered into his eternal rest Thursday evening, October 11, 2018 at his residence. Services to celebrate his life will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon, October 14, 2018 at the residence with Edward C. James officiating.
One of four siblings of the late Lorena Marie Miller Wearn and the late Norman Victor Wearn, Larry was born and raised in Detroit, MI. After graduating high school, Larry began his lifelong career in the automotive industry at Detroit Motors. He then joined the Army, proudly serving his country during the Viet Nam war. After leaving the service, he finally located in the Augusta area, working at various auto dealerships until his retirement as Warranty Administrator for Gerald Jones Ford. Larry loved to fish and, in his younger years, competed in tournaments. An outdoorsman, he took great pride in his yard and could often be found on his lawn mower cutting grass. He was also a great cook and enjoyed preparing meals for his bride and his family. Having a great sense of humor, he wanted to make people laugh and for them to be happy. Larry cherished Brenda, his wife and best friend, and was truly grateful for her love. He had an absolute, unwavering love for his family and was most content in their presence. His death leaves a void that no one can fill; but his love leaves memories that no one can steal.
Larry is also preceded in death by his siblings, Douglas A. Wearn and Marsha G. Dettloff. Other survivors include his children, Michelle E. Towler (Ronald), Lawrence A. Wearn (Tammy), Yvonne M. Butler (Mike), Christopher L. Wearn (Christy), Pamela J. Humphries, Bruce Johnson and Heather Bentley (Richie); sister, Deborah W. Advant; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends at the residence after the services Sunday evening, October 14, 2018.
I’ve Gone Fishin’
I've finished life's chores assigned to me,
So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Please send along my fishing pole
For I've been invited to the fishin' hole.
Where every day is a day to fish,
To fill your heart with every wish.
Don't worry, or feel sad for me,
I'm fishin' with the Master of the sea.
We will miss each other for awhile,
But you will come and bring your smile.
That won't be long you will see,
Till we're together you and me.
To all of those that think of me,
Be happy as I go out to sea.
If others wonder why I'm missin'
Just tell 'em I've gone fishin'
