Kenneth Eugene Allen

Blythe, GA ---  Kenneth Eugene Allen, 77, loving husband of 53 years to Anita Louise Anderson Allen, entered into his eternal rest Friday morning, May 25, 2018 at his residence.  Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday afternoon, May 28, 2018 at Blythe Baptist Church with the Reverend Joshua Caines officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of Harlan, KY, Kenneth was one of fourteen children born to the late Nellie Barnes Allen and the late William Tilford Allen. After graduating from Harlan High School, he worked as a produce manager for local grocery stores in Ohio. He was inducted into the Army in 1963 and was stationed in San Antonio before transferring to Ft. Gordon where he met the love of his life.  They married in 1965 and started their family living in Augusta, then moving to Blythe in 1977.  Accepting Jesus as his Lord and Savior, Kenneth served Him at Blythe Baptist Church for 41 years where he was a past Sunday School Director, choir member and served in other various functions. He loved Blythe and was very community minded, serving as a past President of the Blythe P.T.A. Being a natural born salesman, he sold insurance, siding and home improvements, retiring in 2011.  His gift for gab was extremely helpful in his business.  Having a gregarious personality, Kenneth never met a stranger and was always one to help others in any way he could.  People gravitated to his out-going, good-hearted, and giving spirit.  Kenneth loved to joke around and cut-up—he wanted people to be happy and have a good laugh. He also loved Southern gospel music, especially The Gaithers. A loyal friend, dedicated husband and loving father, he loved his family unconditionally and put their needs above his own. His grandchildren and his great-grandson brought him much joy.  Kenneth built his life on the solid foundation of Jesus and was not deterred in his life’s mission.  This man of faith will be greatly missed by his family, friends and community.

Kenneth was also preceded in death by his twin sons, Kenneth Allen, Jr. and Daniel Allen; and all thirteen of his siblings. Other survivors include his children, Wayne Allen (Michelle), Leonard Allen (Nisla), Dorothy Taylor (John) and Roy Allen (Minin); five grandchildren, Ryan Munro (Kevin), Scotty Allen, Daniel Allen, Derek Allen and Tiffany Allen; one great-grandson, Mason Munro; nieces, nephews, church family and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Brett Chancey, Cliff Chancey, Ken Chancey, Mark Chancey, Dennis Huckaby and Jerry James. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Blosser, Clifford Chancey, Arvil Holt and Jerry Newman.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 3:00 P.M. at Blythe Baptist Church prior to the funeral services Monday, May 28, 2018.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Blythe Baptist Church, P.O. Box 300, Blythe GA 30805 earmarked for the cemetery fund.
