Judson McWhorter Boyd

Stapleton, GA  –         Judson McWhorter Boyd, 62, loving husband of 35 years to Cathy Anderson Boyd, entered into his eternal rest Tuesday morning, June 13, 2017, at Jefferson Hospital.  Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday afternoon, June 17, 2017 at Stapleton Baptist Church with Reverend Joshua Mosley officiating.  Interment will follow in the Stapleton Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

One of five children born to Rebie Norton Boyd and the late Carl Judson Boyd, Judson was a lifelong resident of the Stapleton/Wrens area. As a young man, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined fellowship with Stapleton Baptist Church.  After graduating from Wrens High School in 1973, he attended Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College (ABAC) in Tifton. Judson worked as a service technician and service manager for several equipment companies—Blanchard Equipment, Cobb Equipment, Meeks Tractor, Yancey Brothers, and J & B Tractor Company.  In his “spare” time, he was a farmer.  He loved the land and everything about farming and farming equipment. Well-respected in the farming community, he was a wealth of knowledge to farmers in the area and was always available to help in any way he could.  Known as a “talker”, Judson was very gregarious and never met a stranger, always introducing himself and finding common ground for conversation.  When not working or farming, he liked to hunt deer and shoot dove. He loved NASCAR whether it was going to the races—again, always making “friends” with those who sat around him in the stands—or watching the races on TV.  He also loved college football and was a huge Georgia fan—GO DAWGS!!  Even though he had a fun-loving outlook on life and liked to laugh, he took his responsibility as a husband and father seriously, always providing for his family with his work ethic and moral support—he was a family man who loved his family above and beyond all else. Judson's sudden and untimely death has left a huge void that no one can fill, but his love has left many loving memories that no one can steal.

Other survivors include his two children, Matthew Carl Boyd and Brittany Michele Boyd; four siblings, Michael Jesse Boyd (Kathy), Donald “Bruce” Boyd (Charlene), Lydia “Joyce” Prescott (Jimmy) and Amy Belinda Brown (Robert); his in-laws, Ag Stapleton Anderson, Joy Dutton (Jim), Janie Miller, George Stapleton (Ellen) and Cathy Hadden (Dean); and many nieces, nephews and friends.  Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Dutton, Brady Hadden, Billy Norton, Ronald Russell, Stevie Williams and Lanny Wright.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Stapleton Baptist Church, P.O. Box 146, Stapleton GA  30823.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday evening, June 16, 2017.

To Those Whom I Love

When I am gone, release me—let me go.
I have so many things to see and do.
You must not tie yourself to me with tears;
Be happy that I have had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave me in happiness.
I thank you for the love each have shown
But now it is time I traveled on alone.
So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It is only for a while that we must part
So cherish the memories in your heart.
I will not be far away, for life goes on.
So, if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you cannot see or touch me, I will be near.
And if you listen with your heart, you will hear
All of my love around you soft and clear.
Then, when you must come this way alone,
I will greet you with a smile and a “Welcome Home”.
