Horace “Jr.” Neal Blalock III

Augusta, GA  –           Horace “Jr.” Neal Blalock III, 38, loving son of Sandra Faye Stone and the late Horace Neal Blalock Jr., entered into his eternal rest Saturday afternoon, July 6, 2019 at Augusta University Medical Center.  Services to celebrate his life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 P.M. Saturday afternoon, July 13, 2019 with Reverend Ron Hicks officiating.  The family will receive friends after the service.

Lovingly known as “Jr.”, “June Bug” or “Bug”, he grew up in and around the Augusta area and attended Harlem High School. A hard-worker, Jr. started working at the age of 15 in residential tree service, logging and later as a truck driver. He loved hunting, and even though he did not like to fish, went fishing for relaxation purposes—funny thing is that he always brought home a lot of fish! Bug also enjoy riding his motorcycle—he liked the sense of freedom it gave him. Music soothed his soul.  His favorite was old, classic country, but also listened to hip-hop. Described as a unique man with a big heart, Bug was very generous and would do anything for anybody. Fun-loving and happy, he made friends easily, bestowing upon them his sarcastic sense of humor.  June Bug knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was a Baptist by faith. Jr. was all about family—he loved his mother, was devoted to his brothers and sisters, and adored his nieces and nephews.  He epitomized John 15:13—Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.  This man who unselfishly gave of himself will be forever in our hearts.

Other survivors include his siblings, Brandy Renaie Pressley (Donnie), Joseph Allen Blalock (Lindsey) and Daniel Edward Blalock (Rachael); grandmother, Patricia Huber; great grandmother, Rosie Inez Hall; seven nieces; six nephews; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

I’m Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard him call;
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that place at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss—
Ah yes, these things I, too, will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow:
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much;
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seems all too brief;
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
