Hassie Margaret Padgett Cochran

Keysville, GA  –         Hassie Margaret Padgett Cochran, 86, loving wife of 59 years to the late Joseph Upton Cochran Sr., entered into her eternal rest Saturday morning, October 19, 2019 at her residence. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday afternoon, October 24, 2019, in the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Ed Chance officiating. Interment will follow in the Keysville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The daughter of the late Beatrice Sherrer Padgett and the late Hubert Lester Padgett Sr., Hassie was raised in Keysville and graduated from Hephzibah High School. Marrying a Navy man, they moved often until his retirement in 1962 when they returned to Keysville.  She helped her husband in the operation of the general store and on the farm. Being an active person, she could be found working in her flower garden and fishing.  Her goal was to make their home a loving, safe haven. Hassie loved Jesus, her Lord and Savior, serving Him at Keysville United Methodist Church where she at one time taught a Sunday School class.  She was active in the Relay for Life and loved attending Bible studies with her friends. Hassie had a great sense of humor, a generous spirit, and a loyal devotion to her family and friends.

Hassie is also preceded in death by her brother, Hubert Lester Padgett Jr. Those left to cherish her memories are her two sons, Joseph Upton Cochran Jr. and Glynn “Scott” Cochran (Sylvia); four grandchildren, Jason Cochran (Erin) of Valdosta, Scott Cobio (Sadie) of Aiken SC, Ron Moore (Jessica) of Tarrytown, and Lesley Arrington (B.J.) of Stapleton; nine great grandchildren, Haddie Jo Cochran, Wynn Cochran, Delaney Carter, Aaron Jeremy Cochran, Weston Moore, Khloe Moore, Brooks Moore, Wyatt Moore, and Kiley Arrington; her church family and friends.  Pallbearers will be B. J. Arrington, Jason Cochran, Scott Cobio, Glenn Evans, Hal Kight, and Hubert Padgett III.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Pat Kight, Oliver Russell Jr., Truman Smith and Judson Taylor.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening, October 23, 2019.
