Sara Norris Wooten

Wrens, GA  –              Sara Frances Norris Paul Phillips Wooten, loving wife to the late Durham Paul, the late Roy H. Phillips and the late Ed Wooten, entered into her eternal rest Thursday evening, October 8, 2015 at National Healthcare in North Augusta SC.  Funeral services will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 11, 2015 with Rev. Richard Boggan officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery.

One of four children born to the late Millie Ellis Norris and the late Alfred Norris, Sara was born and raised in Wrens.  Marrying a patriot serving in the Army, and then after his passing, marrying another patriot serving in the Navy, Sara had the opportunity to live and travel all over the U.S.  She moved back to Wrens in 2000 after retiring as Quality Control Inspector with Kellogg in order to be near her family and to take care of her sick son, Jimmy. Sara enjoyed playing Bingo and going to casinos.  In her early years, she loved to fish for her supper, and often had enough to feed her family for days.  Even though she was not a member of a church, Sara was a Baptist by faith and enjoyed a relationship with Jesus.  Her most favorite time was cooking a great meal for her family and enjoying their time together.  Sara was all about family—her devotion to her family was unrelenting and her love unconditional. Her loving, generous spirit will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Sara is also preceded in death by children, Jimmy M. Paul, Rory Phillips and Roy Phillips Jr.; and her brothers, John Norris and Pete Norris. Survivors include her children, Donald E. Paul, Wayne T. Paul (Vicky), Roger H. Phillips, Mala Hand (Earl), Laura McTier, Debbie Haywood, Cindy Holland (Greg) and Teresa Purcell (Jeff); a sister, Lena N. Braswell; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Boggan Jr., Doug Burroughs, Buddy Farmer, Earl Hand, Mike McTier and Bobby Pillsbury.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home one hour prior to funeral services starting at 2:00PM Sunday afternoon, October 11, 2015.
