Charles “Donald” Joslyn

Matthews , GA  –              Charles “Donald” Joslyn, 53, loving husband of 26 years to Tammy Newsome Joslyn, entered into his eternal rest Thursday night, October 27, 2016 at Jefferson Hospital.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening, November 1, 2016 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carson Fellows officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the services—from 6:00-8:00 P.M.—on Tuesday evening, November 1, 2016.

Don was born to Elsie Zeh Wells and the late Charles Donald Bates in Cleveland, Ohio where he grew up, graduated high school and attended college. He then moved to Florida, after which he joined other family members in North Carolina, and then settled in Georgia. Don was in construction and had worked in the maintenance department for Collier Management for the last fifteen years.  He loved his Lord and Savior and had been attending Wrens Baptist Church.  Don was a hard worker—a workaholic by some standards—but always made time to help others in any way he could.  He loved to cook for his family and was a master on the grill. In his spare time, Don enjoyed fishing, traveling and visiting with his family.  He was a man who was generous to a fault with his time and whatever he had.  He loved people and wanted everyone to be happy, to laugh and to have a good time.  Don loved his family unconditionally and was most content in their presence.  His sudden demise comes as a shock and leaves a huge void for everyone who knew him.

Other survivors include his children, Charles Joslyn Jr., Dakota Taylor, Jason D. Taylor, Russell W. Taylor and Robert Taylor; four siblings, Raymond Joslyn, Brenda Ochse (Jimmy), Donna Joslyn and Barbara Saunders (Michael); two grandchildren, Aiden Joslyn and Baby Boy Joslyn; many nieces, nephews and friends.

I'm Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free;
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His had when I heard Him call;
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play--
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that place at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss--
Ah, yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow:
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much--
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seems all too brief;
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up you heart and share with me:
God wanted me now--He set me free.
