Calvin Patrick Todd

Stapleton, GA  –         Calvin Patrick Todd, 53, entered into rest on Thursday afternoon, July 30, 2015 at Jefferson Hospital. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00PM Wednesday, August 5, 2015.

Calvin was born in Beaufort SC to Peggy Jean Sikes Todd Moxley and Dekle Dean Todd Sr. After graduating from SE Bulloch Sigh School in Brooklet GA, he joined the army where he was a telecommunications operator.  He has lived in this area since 1982 and was known locally as “Rambo”.  Calvin also operated a deer processing operation in Louisville for several years and assisted local law enforcement in any way he could, especially in their endeavors to locate missing people.   A “swamp rat”, he loved to hunt and fish, especially salt water fishing at Tybee or Beaufort. Having a heart of gold, he would do anything for anybody, often dropping whatever he was doing to help out.  He was a hugger and gave great hugs—needing love and wanting to give love.  In spite of his many difficulties, Calvin had a great love for his family, friends, community and country.  His time was all too brief but filled with wonderful life experiences and memories.

Other survivors include his son, Zachary Dean Schaeffer; two siblings, Dekle Dean Todd, Jr. (Cathy) and Leisa Michelle Hadden (David); six nephews, Donald Christopher Hadden, Dekle Whealton Todd, Dekle Dean Todd III, Chuck Jones, Austin Maxwell and Joshua Maxwell; one niece, Emily Marie Hadden; and many friends

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home prior to the services—from 6:00-7:00PM—Wednesday evening, August 5, 2015.

Because of their unexpected loss, the family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made directly to James Funeral Home, PO Box 588, Wrens, GA  30833.

I'm Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard him call;
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that place at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;
Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much;
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seems all too brief;
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
