Betty Rae Fullwood Reese

Gibson, GA  –             Betty Rae Fullwood Reese, 61, loving wife of twenty-eight years to John David Reese, entered into her eternal rest Tuesday morning, September 8, 2015 at University Hospital McDuffie in Thomson. Funeral services will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00P.M., Friday, September 11, 2015 with Rev. Jackie Downs officiating. Interment will follow in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens in Thomson.

Born in Jacksonville, FL, Betty Rae was one of twelve children born to Elaine Radford Fullwood Young and the late James Lafayette Fullwood. She attended school in Swainsboro and then met the love of her life while skating at Red McDonald’s Skating Rink in Wrens. After marrying, they moved to Gibson where she was a homemaker, taking care of the family she loved unconditionally. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and watching TV. Betty Rae was a kind person who loved people and animals.  Having an out-going personality, she never met a stranger and connected instantly to others. Betty Rae had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and enjoy life—she wanted everyone around her to be happy.  Her unselfish, abiding love will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Betty Rae is also preceded in death by her siblings, Janice Poole, June Fullwood, Jesse Crosby and Curtis Fullwood. Other survivors include her children, Kristy Rae Reese and Devin Ray Reese; her granddaughter, Annabelle Fourman; seven siblings, Peggy Peebles (Jimmy), Linda Windom, James Fullwood, Jerry Fullwood (Barbara), Patricia Fullwood, Dianne Newsome and Alvie Akridge (Christie); numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.  Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Fourman, Jerry Fullwood, Jimmy Peebles, Curtis Reese, Michael Reese and Tony Wallace.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday evening, September 10, 2015.

Legacy of Love

A wife, a mother, a grandma too,

This is the legacy we have from you.

You taught us love and how to fight,

You gave us strength, you gave us might.

A stronger person would be hard to find,

And in your heart, you were always kind.

You fought for us all in one way or another,

Not just as a wife, not just as a mother.

For all of us you gave your best,

Now the time has come for you to rest.

So go in peace, you've earned your sleep,

Your love in our hearts, we'll eternally keep.
