Bettie Hadden Irby

Avera, GA  –              Bettie Hadden Irby, loving wife of the late Buford Irby, Sr., entered into her eternal rest Thursday evening, October 8, 2015 at Heritage Healthcare of Old Capitol in Louisville.  Funeral services will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 13, 2015 with Rev. Jonathan Witt officiating.  Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

One of ten children born to the late Dora Bell Rabun Hadden and the late Joe M. Hadden, Bettie was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She married and was blessed with three sons. She was a hard worker, often working two jobs—in the factory plus picking cotton, being a salesclerk or whatever other jobs she could find in order to provide for her family.  She loved flowers and enjoyed working in her flower garden and small vegetable garden. She also enjoyed listening to country music and dancing. She was known for her love of fashion—she loved to dress up. Being a great cook, Bettie loved to cook for her family and enjoy spending time together.  This devoted mother loved her family unconditionally.

Bettie is also preceded in death by her grandson, Bradley J. Irby; and six siblings, Jessie H. McGahee, Lois H. Leland, Marshall Hadden, John Hadden, Jerry Hadden and Edward Hadden.  Survivors include her three sons, Tom P. “Sonny” Irby, Buford Irby, Jr. (Teresa) and Kenneth “Joe” Irby; three siblings, Mary H. Rooks, Barbara Jean Sammons, and Troy Hadden; eight grandchildren, Lance N. Irby (Amy), Brandi D. Irby (Joey Burke), Stephanie I. Hinson (Avery), Stacey I. Greene (Darrell), Carla A. Irby, Jason D. Irby, Jonathan D. Irby and Bradley S. Irby (Heather); eleven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  Pallbearers will be Tanner Cruz, Charles Hadden, Ricky Hobbs, Brad Irby, Lance Irby, Jonathan Irby, Pinky Irby, Joey Rooks and Tommy Sheppard.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00P.M. on Monday evening, October 12, 2015.
